Cold, Hard, Cash ❌ Cosy, Happy, Cash ✅

While I have been doing a lot of work around reframing my own Money Mindset and that of the founders I work with, I realised that Language is one area I have not been paying sufficient attention to. I used the words 'cold' and 'hard' to describe 'cash' recently in a conversation when I don’t actually think about money that way at all.

Many of us do this - we use words that we don’t really mean, just because we have unconsciously picked them up from somewhere.

A friend of mine was telling me about a recent night out with other friends and she described her journey back home in the morning as a “walk of shame.” Now this woman is strong, independent and progressive - and absolutely doesn’t feel any shame about this at all - she just used this phrase unconsciously to communicate her story and to add humour.

Of course, I am not trying to be language police here, but for myself - I am now being more thoughtful and intentional about the words I use.

👉 Words Matter.

Words reveal our subconscious and unconscious thoughts, they reinforce our beliefs, they create our reality.

What are some words and phrases you use unconsciously without actually meaning them?
